Governance

We are proud to share the Nupiri-ti Palawa’s Governance Structure, represented through the designs of Palawa emerging artist Ruby Moore.  

The artist is centred and surrounded by layers of support from Project Mentors and the Project Team to realise their vision. The participating galleries provide additional practical support but don’t influence the governance of the festival; Nupiri-ti Palawa Project Team and Project Mentors assist the artist in interacting with galleries. The broader City of Clarence channels funding and provides the financial and legal compliance for the festival. 

The Nupiri-ti Palawa Cultural advisors oversee the festival intention and vision and connect this with the aspirations of the Palawa Community. 

Nupiri-ti Palawa Governance Principles

Nupiri-ti Palawa Art Festival’s independent decision-making process is governed by four key principles:

  • Representation 
  • Self-Determination 
  • Accountability 
  • Knowledge Sharing & Capacity Building

Nupiri-ti Palawa strives to uphold promote the standards of the Indigenous Art Code, and recommends participating galleries follow these standards and include provisions for the protection of ICIP in their processes.
